Steelers vs Chiefs NFL Week 10 Monday Night Football Odds
Week 10 of the 2012 National Football League season comes to a close with the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on the grand stage that is Monday Night Football. This contest, that’s straight out of the “what were they thinking” file and has a monster point spread, is scheduled for 8:30 PM ET on November 12, 2012, from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Chasing Baltimore in AFC North
Fresh off an impressive 24-20 come from behind win over the New York Giants on the road in Week 9 NFL action, the Pittsburgh Steelers return home to the big ketchup bottle to battle the Chiefs. We’re not sure what the NFL schedule makers were thinking when they penciled this match-up into the “prime time” schedule but it is what it is – a blowout in the making.
After a sluggish 2-3 start to the season, Pittsburgh has rattled off three straight wins by a 75-49 combined final count. The Steelers have the top pass defense in the NFL and they’re a very solid seventh against run. This is not good news for the dysfunctional Kansas City offense. QB Ben Roethlisberger has Pittsburgh rolling with a passing offense that ranks tenth in the NFL.
Kansas City Chiefs: Stumbling around in the AFC West basement
Taking a quick glance at the NFL team rankings, it’s kind of difficult to understand why Kansas City is sitting the AFC West cellar with a 1-7 record. Behind RB Jamaal Charles the Chiefs have the leagues third ranked rushing offense as they average 149.9 yard per game. A closer look at the numbers shows that lofty ranking to be a somewhat misleading statistic.
If you take away the 487 rushing yards gained by Charles & Co. against the Saints and Ravens, the Chiefs rush yards per game average drops to a pedestrian 118.6 YPG and they only have five rushing touchdowns. Atrocious play from the quarterback position (6 pass TD) and a defense that’s surrendering 30 PPG helps explain the Chiefs woeful NFL 2012 record.
