NFL Sports Betting News: Home Is Still Sweet Home

Wow! Where does the time go? We are already through Week 7 of the 2011 NFL season and it all seems like a blur. With this NFL Sports Betting News update we see that Home, Is Still Sweet Home, for the teams in the National Football League. Let’s hear it for the Home Team!

NFL Sports Betting News: Home Is Still Sweet Home

As we eagerly anticipate the NFL 2011 Week 8 action, we take a look back on some betting trends that have popped up during the first seven weeks of the NFL schedule. The first wagering trend that jumps off the page at us is the Home Team, and their won/loss records.

NFL 2011 Team Records: Home Cooking Leads The Way

Through the first seven weeks of the NFL 2011 season, there have been 103 games played. The odd number exists because of the mandated BYE week each team must take once through the course of the season.

From a straight up standpoint, the home team has won 62 times, and lost 41 times, in those contests. The combined average combined scores, when the homers win, is 27.9 to 15.7. When the visitors crash the party, the scores are an average 26.3 to 16.5 for the road teams.

OVER/UNDER Wagering Trends: Under Bettors Catching Up

Through Week 5, bettors who wagered on the Game Total saw the OVER come in at an astounding 49 to 26 clip. Under bettors have been able to catch up some over the last two weeks as the UNDER has come in with a 17-9 record.

Two contests, both in Week 2, came in right on the number for a PUSH.

Moving forward, we suggest that total bettors need to pay close attention to the OVER/UNDER lines. It is clear that defenses in the NFL have caught up with the offense’s following the 2011 NFL imposed Lockout.
