Betting boards are buzzing with Major League Baseball action following the All-Star break but Week 4 of the Canadian Football League schedule gets our attention today. CFL doubleheader Saturday features the Montreal Alouettes vs. Calgary Stampeders at 7:00 PM ET followed by a west coast battle between the Edmonton Eskimos and British Columbia Lions at 10:00 PM ET on July 20, 2013, from McMahon Stadium and BC Place respectively – we’re Homers here!

Montreal vs. Calgary: Completes home-and-home set

We are having a tough time grasping the 2013 CFL schedule. For the second week in a row, the Stampeders (2-1) will face the Alouettes (1-2) this time in Calgary. This is also the second and final regular season contest between these two clubs. A late Calgary TD sealed the deal in Montreal last week as the Stamps posted a 22-14 victory. The Montreal players are not responding to new head coach Dan Hawkins and QB Anthony Calvilo is really showing his age. Dude is like 100 years old –  41 in August actually. Veteran back-up QB Kevin Glenn gets a second start for the Stamps – replacing Drew Tate (arm). The Stamps are good with Glenn.

Edmonton vs. British Columbia: Another back-to-back series clash

Adding to our CFL schedule confusion, Edmonton travels to British Columbia as these West Division rivals clash in the back end of a home-and home set. The BC Lions (2-1) have won two straight games as they romped in the rain at Commonwealth Stadium a week ago and registered a 17-3 win over the host Eskimos. Edmonton (1-2) has opened the season on a lose one, win one, lose one, streak but we expect their first back-to-back loss come in beautiful Vancouver tonight. The Leo’s were the top preseason Grey Cup favorite (+300 Grey Cup odds) for a reason – they are good. The Green & Gold (+900) are a major work in progress.
