2010 NFL Week 1 Picks Recap: 1-2 Not Bad for Betting Rookie!

Betting on three away teams proved costly for me as I went 1-2 in the first week of the season. The Dolphins won, the Colts left their run to late, while the Cowboys still can’t be trusted.

Indianapolis Colts –3

Houston Texans defeated the Indianapolis Colts 34-24. Early last week I thought the Texans were a chance to win this game, later in the week I thought no way will the Colts lose, they hardly ever do. Thus some advice to new betting people “going with your initial gut feeling” can be a good thing.

The Texans lead the Colts all day, their running back Arian Foster ran for a team-record 231 yards and scored 3 touchdowns, while Colts star quarterback Peyton Manning had yet another great game, throwing for 433 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Last week many NFL experts were predicting this could be the year that the Texans make the playoffs. It was a great win over last year’s Super Bowl runners up.

Miami Dolphins –3

Miami Dolphins defeated the Buffalo Bills15-10. This bet paid off for me with a $4 win at Bodog.com. The Bills offence led by quarterback Trent Edwards appears that it will again struggle this year, Trent threw for 139 yards and 1 touchdown while they ran for only 50 yards.

One of my favorite players in the NFL Brandon Marshall the former Bronco wide receiver now with the Dolphins had 8 receptions for 53 yards. The Dolphins should have a good year, while I believe the Bills will only have several wins.

Dallas Cowboys – 3.5

Washington Redskins defeated the Dallas Cowboys 13-7. This is the loss that really annoyed me. Why would I trust the Cowboys? It appeared the Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and coaches didn’t trust their “banged up” offensive line, as in the first half, on many occasions he threw really quickly to his wide receivers.

With seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter the forced fumble by Redskins DeAngelo Hall on Cowboys running back Tashard Choice resulted in a Redskins touchdown. This was an unnecessary play that cost the Cowboys the game.

It was a great win for the Redskins in front of a massive home crowd.
