For those who don't know about Omaha Poker, we will teach you some basics so you can start having fun in Bodog online poker room. Omaha Poker is a community game just like Texas Hold'Em Poker. In fact, if you know how to play Texas Hold'Em, you will learn how to play Omaha poker pretty quickly. They are similar in many aspects.

Players must make the best five card hand combination from a total of nine cards (verses just seven cards in Texas Hold'em). The nine cards are made up of four pocket cards and five community cards, which result in stronger hand combinations. Omaha poker is a fun game and it's captured the hearts and minds of many online poker players. What makes it interesting is that your hand must be made up of two pocket cards and three community cards. It really brings out the strategy in poker.

How to Play the Game

Note: To play Omaha Poker you must have enough credits to place a blind bet and a bet.

The Players to the left of the Dealer begin the poker Omaha game by posting blind bets - there are two blinds bets each hand. The player on the Dealer's left posts a small blind bet and the player on the small blind's left posts a big blind bet. These are the only two players who throw money into the pot each hand-unless you are playing a game with special rules, like a Omaha poker tournament. Note: The Dealer's position at the table changes after every game. The dealer button (D) shows the Dealer's position at the table. This is the best position to be in, because the player on the button acts last. It's a power position.

Four pocket cards are dealt to each player.

In the first round, the player to the big blind's left plays first and can either:

• Fold
• Call
• Raise

Note: In the first round, betting is capped at one bet and three raises per Player.

In the second round, three community cards are dealt. This is called the Flop. A round of betting follows and players can either:

• Check
• Fold
• Call
• Raise

In the third round, a fourth community card is dealt. This is called the Turn. Another round of betting follows.

In the fourth round, a fifth and final community card is dealt. This is called the River Card. The final round of betting follows. The remaining Players then use two of their pocket cards and three of the community cards to create the best five-card high hand possible.

Important: Winning hands must consist of two pocket cards and three community cards. This differs from Texas Hold'Em where players could use all five community cards to make the best hand if they wanted. If you are a Texas Hold'Em player, this is one important rule to remember.
