Penn National has been in operation for thirty-four years and each year they continue to build upon their great tradition. Penn National has become an entertainment destination in Central Pennsylvania. The racetrack is complete with dirt and a turf tracks. Locals who love the thrill of live thoroughbred action flock to Penn National often. Races at Penn National are also taken in by horse racing fans around the nation thanks to simulcasting. Penn National started out as a privately owned racetrack, but has since went public. In May of 1994, Penn National Gaming Inc. offered up $18 million of stock in a public offering.

Stock investors can located the stock under its NASDAQ symbol, PENN. At last check, the stock was trading around $39 per share. It was in 1973 that Penn National really came into its own. That year, 100 races were added to the season and Penn National began offering year round horse racing wagering. Today, Penn National is poised to enhance its facilities again - with the addition of regulated casino gaming. Horse racing around the nation is on the rise and Penn National saw 2005 revenues jump as well. 2005 was a great year for Penn National. They had a record handle and set many other records.

The main track is one mile long. The turf track is seven furlongs in length. Penn National offers many standard betting options. They offer a $2 daily double on the 1st and 2nd races and the last two races of the day. $2 Exactas are offered on all races as are Trifectas. They have a rolling Pick 3 that begins on the first race of the day. Pick 4 is offered on races three through six and six through nine. The fourth, sixth and last race of the day are home to the Superfecta. Penn National is a great track to wager at and they can be viewed nationally via simulacast.
